Nice, you've gotten into a "VizSwap" project. This article will show you many different ways to insert pictures to your projects!
Why?
There are many reasons to add images to vizswap, you may need to communicate color selections, or just clean up your phone's gallery and save on that ever so precious storage space. Outlined below are multiple ways to get started.
1. Starting With An Empty Board
When a board is blank (as shown in the following picture), you can either click on the empty board, or drag and drop pictures onto the gray section of the page.
- If you click the gray section, a file chooser window will pop up and allow you to select file(s)
- this gray section will be replaced by the images you upload, so use drag-and-drop or another upload option when the board has content
- If you drag-and-drop, the app will upload the new files alerting you if something unexpected happens
2. Boards with Images
When a board has content, you can drag and drop more images on top of the section with existing images (shown below with the large red rectangle). All selected images will be uploaded to the board.
Alternatively, you may click the "Add Images" button to bring up the file chooser screen which will guide you through selecting images.
- The file chooser will look different based on what platform & operating system you are using (Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, etc).
- Please keep in mind, you are able to upload the same image multiple times.
3. Copy & Paste
A very convenient way to get images into VizSwap is with Copy & Pasting. On a computer, you can right click nearly any image you see online and get options to come up. You will want to use the "Copy Image" option.
Once copied, return to VizSwap and visit the project board you want to put the image in. Next, use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+V" (or Cmd+V on an Mac) to paste the image to the board. You should see the image begin uploading at the top of the board like the screenshot below.
- Please note that some websites may block copying their images right the right click method. If you encounter this, use your device's screenshot tool to get what you need and then upload that screenshot to VizSwap in whatever way is easiest for you. Uploading screenshots is supported on all devices & platforms.
4. Sharing Images Directly
A really powerful option for quickly getting files into VizSwap is to "share" images to the VizSwap app (to learn how to get the VizSwap App, please read Why VizSwap?). The avability of this feature is platform dependant, but as a rule of thumb it will almost always be available on Android phones and sometimes on iPhones.
As of 05-20-2021, Apple devices with the latest iOS 14 have a bug with the sharing feature, we will update this article when it is fixed. You may not see VizSwap appear as a sharing option.
Please use a different image upload method to upload photos from Apple devices.
Sharing Images on Android
Open your Gallery or Photos app, select one or more images you want to add to a VizSwap board, click the "Share Icon".
Next, you need to select your VizSwap app (it will be an option if the app is installed on your device). For example, this is what it would look like sharing to the Gmail app.
The visuals of the share menu change with each phone update, but the general process should be the same.
Sharing Images on Iphone
- Share a single photo: Open the photo, tap the Share button, then choose how you want to share it.
- Share multiple photos: While viewing photos in an album or the All Photos tab in your library, tap Select, then tap the photos you want to share. Tap the Share button, then choose a share option.
- Share photos from a specific Day: While viewing your library, tap the Days tab, tap the More Options button, then tap Share Photos to share all the photos from that day. Use this feature with caution, and be mindful of what photos you are choosing to upload or share.
For more information, please read Apple's article on the topic.
What to Do With Shared Images
If everything went as planned, you should be back in the VizSwap app and be prompted to choose where to send your image(s). You will need to select a project and board to upload your images into. Lastly, click the "Upload Image(s)" button at the bottom of the screen and when everything is done, you will be taken to the board to see all the freshly uploaded images!
